Rustic DIY Home Decor Craft

Don't throw out your scrap wood! There is so much you can do with it!

Today, more and more people are choosing to go natural and rustic in their homes. The use of wood scraps, natural fabrics, vintage projects, quotes and other design elements is becoming trendy. Using this type of home decor can help you create an atmosphere for your home that reflects who you are.

The best part about creating rustic crafts is that you can use your creativity to make them unique and perfect for your home. And, if you're feeling extra crafty, you can totally customize this idea to suit your needs.

1.Grab some scrap wood, sand it down.

2. Stain your pieces with wood stain, 

I used Dulux Woodsheen Church Oak. 

You can use acrylic paint too. Let it dry.

3. Grab a sponge and dip in white paint. 

Paint it lightly (don't put too much pressure on the sponge

 but if you do, then you can sand it down with 

sandpaper to get the rustic effect). Let it dry.

4. Add a quote. I used my Cricut to cut out my 

wording on permanent vinyl. 

I'm placing the quote in the middle, 

more to the right side so there is room for the ribbon.

If you don't have Cricut, you can handwrite it

 (for example with black Posca Pen).

5. Once you add your quote, add your ribbon and... 

it's all done.

You could make these rustic crafts for yourself or as a gift for someone else, to add some charm to your home or in any room at home where you want to bring warmth and cosiness.
